Super Identity and Secret Identity:
The Rani // Elizabeth Becksford
Alliance:
Chaotic Neutral
Gender Preference:
Female
Age:
945
Birthday:
She doesn't think it matters.
Personality:
The Rani is generally a nihilistic sort, who favors science and reason over trivial things like compassion. She regards humans as insects that don't deserve to live. After all, why should she care for creatures that only found ways to torture or imprison creatures weaker than them?
She focuses solely on her work, and is not above using human test subjects. She dislikes some people and hates the rest of them. She had never been much of a people person, even at a young age. She enjoys her peace and quiet, and really only wants to work on her experiments.
She is a very proud woman, and has a wicked temper. She will not dismiss stupidity. She will not only point it out, but she will berate the moron until she is confident that they will not make the same mistake again.
In addition, she is also rather spiteful. She has cruel ways of seeking vengeance, and she will seek it relentlessly if she feels she is entitled. And she quite often feels entitled. However, she does things simply and elegantly. She often quips that her fellow Time Lord, The Master, is "over-complicated and devious" and that "he would get dizzy if he walked a straight line."
Though she would never admit it, she misses Gallifrey. She has tried to make new homes on different worlds, but it was never the same. She tries to remind herself that she was exiled, but that only halts the pain for so long. To distract herself, she keeps thinking up new experiments. Anything to keep her mind busy.
Appearance:
The Rani is a classically beautiful woman, and that tends to remain constant through her regenerations. Her eyes are a bright shade of green, which compliments her dark brown hair quite well. She takes a great deal of pride in the way she looks and never enters public without looking her best. While she doesn't wear a lot of makeup, she wears just enough to make herself look more put together.
She usually dresses in dark colors, favoring leather when not in a professional environment. Her form is rather petite and slim, and she dresses to flatter herself. In a professional environment, she typically wears a dark colored blouse paired with black or gray slacks. As fashionable as she can dress, she never complicates her wardrobe.
History:
The Rani was born as Ushas on Gallifrey into a wealthy family. She was quite priveledged as a child, and some would even say she was spoiled. When she looked into the Schism, she became inspired to study all aspects of sciences, from simple biology to evolution, to physics. This reflected in her studies at the Academy.
She was classmates with two nearly likeminded Gallifreyans, Koschei and Theta. She considered herself the leader of the triad, as she would typically be the one to get the three of them out of whatever trouble the other two had gotten them all into. She never thought herself close to them, but they were nice companions to have during their time in the Academy.
It wasn't long before a few more people joined their clique. They called themselves The Deca.
Closer to graduation, Ushas took to pranking Theta and Koschei. Usually harmless stuff, like leaving spiders in their dorms, or planting snakes in their bags. Although, there was one incident with a giant rat at Theta's graduation. It was around that time that she had a short lived relationship with Koschei. She refuses to divulge any information about that relationship, but some would say it was clear that it ended badly.
She was exiled from Gallifrey after some of her lab mice, as a result of her experiments, grew to an enormous size and ate the Lord President's pet cat, as long as a bit of the Lord President himself. While she viewed her exile as an inconvenience, she is still quite proud of that moment.
Since her exile, she has taken the designation The Rani, which translates to The Queen. Despite her title, she never sought power. She has ruled a couple of planets on occasion as necessity dictated. She was constantly searching for a quiet place to research and study.
She has worked with The Master, begrudgingly. She saw him as purely evil, and therefore stupid. Why bother with conquering the universe when there was studying to be done? It was an aspect of him that she never understood or cared for.
When she received word that Gallifrey had been destroyed, she was buried in her work on a new project called The Citadel. Shocked, she used her TARDIS to search for it. She travelled backward and forward in time to find Gallifrey, but it was gone. Completely gone. She felt a brief moment of sorrow before she remembered she had better things to do with her time than mourn a civilization that rejected her ideas.
Since the fall of Gallifrey, she has been in hiding. She took a new name and has worked as a scientist, roaming the galaxy.
Secret Identity:
The Rani works as a freelance scientist, taking work wherever it is offered. She allows her employers to think they are telling her what to do, but she uses her position to continue her abnormal studies.
Power:
Being a Time Lord has a few perks. The ones exclusive to herself, whether they qualify as powers or not, include genius level intellect and expertise in chemistry. She has a wrist monitor that she uses to store various chemicals. These chemicals are often used in self defense, as she can't fight very well.
She also has a vast knowledge of history. History of everything. As that was not her area of study, her knowledge is not entirely complete. However, her ability to predict possibilities of the future were heightened by necessity.
In the event of her impending death, she can regenerate into a new body.
RP Sample:
Another day. Another day on this miserable planet. The Rani wondered to herself why she had chosen Earth of all places to hide. Given her experience with The Doctor, he would likely rear his agitating head sometime. And The Master had an odd desire to destroy this planet ... and that was the last thing she needed right now.
The Rani strode into her laboratory, dressed in her usual "business casual" ensemble. She slipped her lab coat on and approached her work table, without so much as greeting her coworkers. They attempted to engage her in conversation, as they always did. And, as per her routine, she ignored them. Why couldn't they understand that she knew what she was doing? She didn't need them around, nor did she need their help. She could even cure cancer, if she didn't despise the humans so much.
Still, she continued on with her work.
Then one of them said something that made her stop. Home.
She didn't have a home. Not truly. Not since...
She shook off the slight pause in her work and continued on, focusing more intently. She wouldn't let it get to her. She couldn't. Gallifrey didn't want her. They never could see what she saw. They refused to. And yet, they still accepted The Doctor and The Master. Or, at least they did. A few giant lab rats, and you never hear the end of it.
Other:
The Rani is currently in her 3rd regeneration. A low number, because unlike her fellow Time Lords, she doesn't seek danger. Her bodies usually die of old age, and usually last a few hundred years. Her newest face is remarkably new. Only a few decades old.
