Occupation:
Professional Con Artist, Wine Aficionado.
Gender Preference:
Male
Age:
40-Something
Birthday:
December 15th
Personality:
If asked, Mozzie often describes himself as 'properly paranoid'. He is extremely skeptical of just about anyone he meets. He is a master of conspiracy theories, and is an exceptionally intelligent individual. On occasion, he has self-identified as a 'genius', but he hardly thinks the word becoming of an individual of his talents. Mozzie does not trust others easily. He is extremely skilled with children, and always treats them kindly. Mozzie prefers to work behind the scenes, due to his cowardly nature.
Only two people have his absolute trust. The first of course is his long-time criminal associate, Neal. To Mozzie, Neal is the brother he never had. His loyalty to Neal has often caused him to come out of his comfort zone, for the sake of his friend. Neal is one of the few people with whom Mozzie confines nearly everything to. For some time, he was the only one who knew that Mozzie grew up an orphan.
The second person with whom Mozzie completely trusts is Peter's wife, Elizabeth. Affectionately referring to her as 'Mrs Suit', he is prone to visiting the Burke home while Peter is out at work, wining and dining with the woman. It's occasionally insinuated that he might have a bit of a crush, but in all honesty Mozzie sees Elizabeth as the mother he's always dreamed of having. He cares for her immensely, not in a romantic sense, but as if she were his own family. Because of this attachment, he assists Peter on occasion.
Mozzie has a distinct fear of being abandoned. He doesn't handle losing someone well, and panics when someone he cares about is missing, or possibly in danger. Due to his upbringing, Mozzie cannot handle the death of anyone he cares about, hence why he's worked so hard to be distant toward practically anyone. He doesn't celebrate his birthday.
Appearance:
Mozzie is a short individual, with a bit of hair on the sides of his head. One might describe him as 'balding', but he prefers not to refer to himself using that description. His attire changes depending on what uniform he needs to wear for whatever con he's working on. Mozzie seems to have a penchant for having practically every service uniform known to man.
The collection is actually quite impressive, and Mozzie himself is very proud of it. Upon his face he wears a pair of thick-framed glasses, which he says he needs to see. He's gone without them before, however, implying that the glasses might be a ruse, or possibly a gadget of some sort.
History:
Mozzie was left abandoned as a baby on the steps of the local orphanage in Detroit. His only possession was a teddy bear with the name 'Mozart' on it. As a toddler, the little boy called the bear 'Mozzie' due to being unable to properly pronounce the name. Unfortunately for Mozzie, he was never adopted.
At the age of twelve, he started his own operation, becoming 'The Dentist of Detroit'. He simply pretended to be the go-to of a well-to-do dishonest businessman. Any money he made, he donated anonymously to the orphanage. Mozzie considered the caretaker of the orphanage to be like a father to him, and the two still remain in touch.
He became rather infamous, and eventually got enough money to leave the city, deciding to travel to Townsville. Mozzie set up his own modest little venture, running a few cons here and there. It wasn't until he witnessed Neal con a man out of 200 dollars that he finally found someone to call a friend.
Eventually, Neal ingested FML, and started to change. Mozzie remained at his side, steadfast, through it all. His partner had nights where he had terrible fevers, or horrible chills. No matter what happened, Mozzie remained at his size, leaving only to bring more food or water.
In all honesty, the time in which Neal was turning was the most terrifying moment in Mozzie's life. He'd finally found someone he could care about, someone who wasn't off put by his strange behavior, or conspiracy theories. To Mozzie, Neal was more than a friend. He was the closest thing the orphan ever had to family.
Once Neal got better, the pair began to work more cons. This time, they used Neal's abilities to their fullest advantage. Mozzie was still skeptical of the powers, and insisted that Neal only use them when absolutely necessary. Of course, he was convinced the leak of FML was due to aliens.
While Mozzie has never shown signs of being mutated himself, he is prone to taking blame if Neal's abilities ever go off. This is largely due to his desire to protect Neal from being taken away by the government for experimentation.
Mozzie worked with Neal and Kate on a few cons with Vincent Adler, but never completely trusted the man. Adler wasn't all that fond of Mozzie either. When Neal was arrested [thanks to the betrayal of Kate], Mozzie went underground, working a few cons here and there, but waiting for Neal to get free.
Eventually Neal ended up in the care of one FBI Agent Burke [affectionately called 'Suit' by Mozzie]. Now and then, Mozzie assists Neal on cases, though often not by entirely legal means. Like Neal, Mozzie doesn't like guns, murder, or anything regarding the two.
Network:
Aside from being a criminal mastermind, Mozzie has contacts virtually everywhere, the identities of which he does not divulge. He is revealed to be an expert at making little devices, often used in the cons that he and Neal pull [on occasion behind Peter's back]. Due to his paranoid nature, he has become a skilled liar, and quite good at acting. Mozzie has a closeted obsession with spies and the spy lifestyle, which leads to the inspiration behind most of his homemade devices.
Alliance?:
He prefers to remain on the sidelines.
RP Sample:
Mozzie was in the mood for some wine.
Not just any wine of course, he was exceptionally particular. This was one of those rare moments in which he had the strong desire to have a bit more of a sweet wine. Moscato was of course, out of the question. It was far too sweet for the picky con man. Perhaps something along the lines of a sweet red... Yes, that would be a good choice.
Of course, he wasn't exactly at his own home making these choices. For one thing, Mozzie didn't have a set home. He had a few safe houses around the city, each properly decorated by himself. If ever he needed to lay low for a while, he would simply spend a few weeks housed up in one of his lovely little retreats.
For now though, he was in Neal's loft. He and June had grown to be quite good friends, and she just let him up. It seemed as though Neal was out, so he decided to help himself to some of the wine. He opened the fridge, taking a look at the few bottles of white and blush wines that Neal had. Much like himself, Neal tended to prefer the more heavy bodied, red wines.
Finally deciding on a bottle, he all-too-happily uncorked it, and poured himself a glass, recorking the bottle and putting it back in the fridge. Mozzie walked out onto the balcony, looking out at the city.
The sweet flavor of the wine in his mouth did little to dissuade the sinking, bitter feeling he had in the pit of his stomach. Something was going to happen soon. A storm was coming.
Other:
I think Mozzie would be ever so happy to have an Elizabeth to spend time with, or a Suit [Peter] to harass.
