Trollin' in the deep.
Onto the real application...
Super Identity and Secret Identity: Anthony J. Crowley (Formerly Crawly had a name change), The Serpent
Alliance: Technically by a vague default, a villain.
Gender Preference: Male
Age: ?
Birthday: 1st of January
Personality: Crowley is quite the laid-back guy. Despite the reputation from the Incredibrand Incident, Crowley is not nearly as diabolical as other villains. In fact, he's pretty openminded about the whole humans vs mutants debate. He was just dragged to a side because everyone he associated with were quite involved.
Crowley is vain and tries to keep up a modern image. He may be using his manipulation powers to slow down his aging even more. Unlike a lot of mutants with a slowed aging process, he's usually on top of politics and modern trends and technology, often simply because it's his job as a villain to at least be aware of things going on. (He insists that he's "a more subtle type" than blowing things up and causing violent havoc.)
Crowley is also known for enjoying starting a little mischief, but nothing that would actually harm someone. He always says that it's because he doesn't want to hear a certain friend ranting about it later. In actuality, he can't stomach a lot of the things that a lot of the more serious villains do. Crowley is also surprisingly optimistic. He believes that eventually, things will sort itself out in a way that let's him come out on top.
Unfortunately, this attitude often puts Crowley in situations that strip him of his cool and stylish exterior, leaving him slightly prone to panicking and forced to improvise.
Appearance: Crowley drives a vintage Bentley and yes this counts for his appearance because it's been his for so long that it's signature of him.
Crowley has a lithe build, has dark hair, and good cheekbones.** Crowley is prone to wearing well-tailored suits, which have always been and probably will always be fashionable. It's questionable if the snakeskin shoes he's frequently seen wearing are actually shoes.
Due to a mishap with his powers, Crowley has yellow snake eyes that he covers with a pair of trendy sunglasses. Not many people have seen his snake eyes, except if he's tying to spook someone for a little fun. Or if he just knows them pretty well. The same goes with his tongue, which is also pretty snakelike. He can do weird things with it.
Because the "superheroes and villains" phenomenon did not come until later, Crowley used his powers to manipulate his image in the beginning of the Incredibrand Incident instead of designing a costume. He took the form of a snake of varying sizes, depending on what he was tempting people into. This earned him the name of "The Serpent" without him actually trying for a name.
**And that's basically all the book will tell you, so the rest is fanon.
History: Crawly was among one of the first to be changed thanks to the Incredibrand leak. Back then, the idea of a "master human race" was quite controversial. He could understand the reasons why this would be a controversial subject, seeing as his family (some of them also infected) were highly against it. However, he spent a lot of time with friends who were, miraculously, also of the same blood type and therefore also changed.
After a whirlwind of disagreements that got entirely out of hand, Crawly found himself somehow dragged into the villains side by his friends and his family hasn't spoken to him since. He assumes those who didn't have the proper blood type are dead and those that do have shunned him.
About a year after the initial outbreak, Crawly was encouraged to cause some trouble by his new peers who, evidently, were much stronger than him. So he did.
He couldn't really use his power for much other than idle entertainment. So while others were picking fights with other mutt kids who disagreed with them, Crawly turned his attention to the humans who haven't yet decided where they stood.
He convinced many people in a generation to voluntarily take the chemical to mutate themselves, using his manipulation powers to change his form into either a snake or someone that would easily convince the person he was dealing with. It wasn't that hard---the only ones he convinced were people who were curious in the first place. If he didn't give them the chemical, they probably would have found it another way. Unfortunately, this naturally created more people who were convinced that mutt kids were the future, therefore more of a divide in the argument.
To get off the radar, he has changed his name and the Serpent has been largely absent ever since. Save for a little mischief here and there, just to make sure his superiors wouldn't get angry with him.
Secret Identity: Crowley spends most of his time wandering around Townsville causing problems when he can. Things like tying up the telephone systems during lunch and breaking stoplights so they always flash red during rush hours. This isn't exactly profitable, so Crowley has been running "Forbidden Knowledge"
Power: Crowley is one of the mutt kids whose aging was severely slowed thanks to the chemical. Besides that, Crowley is able to manipulate and manifest small to medium sized inanimate objects. This isn't very useful in the more violent battles, seeing as he can't manipulate large objects or small objects at a distance. In fact, Crowley mainly uses that aspect of his powers for his own convenience. However, it does help a little bit with temptation and manipulation, via a small seemingly imaginary tempter on his target's shoulder.
His power does not work on anything living except himself. Crowley sometimes transforms into a snake (his favorite form) when he forgets himself. There's also a terrifying form he choses every once in a while when he really needs to scare someone away quickly. It involves maggots. Of course, as Crowley found out, manipulating himself does have its downfalls. He's been a snake so many times that some of it has stuck.
RP Sample: In all actuality, the day that Incredibrand leaked fluoxometholodone was a nice day. Depending on what movie you watched and who it was sponsored by, the day would is either portrayed with a rolling fog (sponsored by good old normal people) or bright and sunny and downright happy (sponsored by mutant activists.) He remembered it as being nice. Not particularly amazing and not exactly bad. But nice. (He also may or may not have sponsored both pictures, just to keep both sides irritated with each other and laugh at both movies failing in the box offices.)
Most of the days for Crowley had been nice before then. After that, he had been dragged into one troublesome matter after another. Crowley was not proud of the time he his superiors gave him a file with a name and photo in it and asked*** he retrieve the person.
That person had been an eleven-year-old kid. Crowley had no idea why they would want a kid like that and he didn’t know what they were planning for him, but he retrieved the kid and
Currently, Crowley was sitting alone in a dimly lit waiting room. The rest of the building had nice bright light bulbs that didn’t flicker every few minutes, plush seats that weren’t made out of old and hard wood, and the latest magazines. Crowley picked up one of the magazines sitting around in the room and flipped through the crinkled pages, eyebrows furrowing as he realized that they were the same magazines he read last time he was here.
When he dropped off the subject like a package to its destination. (Albeit via a somewhat nervously suspicious deliveryman.) But that had been years ago…
He tossed the magazine down and waited, crossing his arms and tapping a foot on the cement floor. He had better things to do than sit around and let the higher-ups play their intimidation games.
With that thought, one of the two doors in the room opened, revealing two men who looked like they stepped out of gothic illustrations or should have been lurking in a cemetery. There was a figure behind them and Crowley craned his neck to get a better look.
“Crowley. The child from the Warlock project. He is not exhibiting any extraordinary abilities.”
Crowley slowly nodded and smiled as if he was dealing with a particularly slow child. “What does that have to do with me?”
“Is this the child?”
They parted and a young man stumbled forward, malice in his eyes and a scowl that could fry eggs. Really, it was exactly what Crowley would expect from someone a part of something called the “Warlock Project.” And yet…
“Umm,” Crowley rubbed the back of his neck as his smile evaporated. “No. It’s not.”
Somehow, he was getting the feeling that he was going to be in severe trouble for this answer.
