Super Identity and Secret Identity: Artemis Fowl II does not have a secret identity.
Alliance:
Gender Preference: Male
Age: 15
Birthday: 9th of September
Personality: Artemis is highly intelligent and is not afraid to show it. In fact, he is known to belittle people he regards as inferiors. Artemis is smug and sarcastic. Combined with his criminal intelligence, this makes him…well, largely annoying. Artemis is cold and does not naturally form friendships, leaving him mainly awkward when he does actually make an effort. He also does not trust very easily and probably does not trust anyone completely.
He is distant from his parents because he expects that is what they want of him, but in truth he loves and cares for them deeply. His love for them and his upbringing often clashes, leaving Artemis with the desire to expand his criminal expertise and guilty for going against his parents at the same time.
It is imperative to observe that Artemis's ambitions center not around the want for chaos, but for money and gold. Even he is willing to admit that.
Artemis also seems to have standards for his villainous acts. He cannot stomach the idea of actually killing someone or harming the environment. (In Artemis's view, if one is to take control, there should be something left to take control over.) Artemis has made no secret that although he respects supers and sees them as equals to humans, but he abhors the fact that they came to be by chemical waste in the water supply. (Of course, he blames the company and not the people mutated.)
Appearance: Artemis is often described as looking like a "healthy corpse." He is pale not only due to lineage, but time spent in the manor, leaving only for business. Artemis has ice blue eyes and a perpetual frown. (He probably even has frown lines that are normally only reserved for adults.) He has short black hair that is always combed back and styled to perfection.
Artemis does not keep up with the fashion of his peers. Instead, he wears tailored suits and loafers, no matter what. His idea of casual is a lighter pair of loafers, silk shirts, and woolen pants. He tries to keep his clothes nice and tidy most of the time.
Most notable of Artemis's physical appearance would be his build. Or lack thereof. Artemis has never once thought about working out something other than his mind. The result is a scrawny preteen who probably cannot lift twenty pounds for more than that same amount in seconds.
History: Since the controversial discovery of supers, the Fowl Family has been supporting them as the next generation of humans. Although the Fowls have not had many supers in their bloodline since then (though their bodyguards may have been prone to it), the Fowls have funded both sides of the supers.
However, even before the discovery of supers, the Fowls been well established in the underworld. As such, they often fund and give advantages to villains simply because it benefits the family as well.
Artemis Fowl the Second has been raised into the criminal empire the same way as his father was and his father before him. He is a child without a childhood, but in an odd way he loves his father as much as any son would. Artemis has diligently followed his father's footsteps, at a young age being capable of taking control of the family enterprise when his father was absent.
As he grew older, this became a more frequent occurrence due to Artemis's mother. Angeline is kind and doesn't quite approve of the family's criminal ways. Because of her, Artemis's father was slowly channeling funds to ventures that would be profitable while (largely) legal.
Artemis had been confused with this seemingly sudden change of heart. Not only was he raised into his criminal ways, but he finds that combined with his intellect, the criminal life suits him. However, recently both of his parents have gone missing. Artemis is currently attempting to track them down, no matter what the cost. This leaves him free to do as he pleases and so far he has been forsaking his parents’ wishes for a normal life in order to find them. However, his father's change of heart and mother's desire to live life as a normal family has…changed him.
Secret Identity: Artemis's identity is hardly secret. Rather, because he doesn't physically participate in battles most of the time, his power is the secret.
Power: Artemis's intelligence is unusual, even considering boy geniuses. From a young age, he has been able to understand most scientific texts that come his way. He's a master inventor and can often identify how other technology works simply through observation. Given proper tools and time, he'll probably be able to replicate what he sees. His criminal and tactical skills, however, are merely from upbringing. It's unclear where the line lies between powers and abilities Artemis would have had anyway. (May give him assembly powers as time goes on. For now, it's dormant because he doesn't exactly need it.)
RP Sample:
Artemis is not the type to let his mind wander. But the manor is quiet at night and sometimes the quiet can be deafening without the sound of his parents either whispering in their own room or breathing slowly as they slept. The sound would usually not carry to Artemis's room, but he had bugged the room with a button camera and microphone long ago.
Now, Artemis sat alone in his study. The room was relatively well lit during the day, but a part of his mother’s attempt to conserve energy had the lights dimmed, encouraging working in the daylight rather than late at night. Each wall was covered with polished oak shelves, containing old leather bound books that were dusted daily, stacks of blueprints, and manila files filled with profiles of companies and people the Fowls dealt with.
As Artemis through the reports of failed search teams he hired to look for his parents, he let his mind wander.
The last time Artemis heard something coming from his parents’ room, his father had been convincing his mother that this would be the last deal. One last shot in the underworld before their family fortune was sizable enough to retreat and channel elsewhere. Likely, they would be spending their time fulfilling Angeline's ambitions towards bettering the environment.
"And then we can be a proper family.'
Those were the last words he heard from his parents and they managed to echo in his mind even now. Artemis rubbed his temples and shot a glance at the grandfather clock next to his bookcase. It was getting late. His mind was merely reacting to the lack of sleep, he reasoned.
And yet, the words haunted him like a fog over the city coast. Artemis slowly closed his laptop, mentally running through the list of deals he needed to attend to in the morning. Weapons for the others needed to be manufactured. These ventures, not too long ago, would have made his father proud. Now they left him with just a little bit of guilt.
Artemis quickly pushed away the feeling. It is necessary. These endeavors are to find my parents. As for whether or not he would allow himself to be a part of his mother's "proper family"…
He would decide that another time.
Other: Um, just a note on another character from this series. See, Artemis has a body guard named Butler who I may have written in certain scenes with Artemis simply because Arty always has him nearby and it's a major part of how he acts? (He's definitely cockier because of his protection.) Of course, I'll cease this if we get one, but I highly doubt that will happen.
